Week 1, Day 2, Activity 2 (SLJ)

For this activity, let’s imagine that you were Neil Armstrong. Write a short poem describing how you felt when you first set foot on the moon.
[All art is from Sanders Sides]

I was trying to go for a melancholy feel but poems are not my forte. Nontheless, this was a lot of fun to write and decorate!

Kia ora Riiana,

You did a fantastic job describing what it would feel like if you were on the moon. I love the way you use rhyme. Very creative! :)

I really liked the colour and image you used to present your poem. Ka pai!

I have often thought about what it would be like to travel into space. I think if I had the opportunity to go there, I would probably stay because I'd miss my friends and family so much! Neil Armstrong was so brave going to the moon.

If you had the opportunity, would you go to the moon? I think the view would be phenomenal!

Hi Erica.

Thank you! I don't think I'd travel to the moon. Just as you said, I'd miss and family and friends too much.

Sincerely,
Riiana

Hi Riiana,
I liked how you described how you felt, before and after with lots of detail. I also liked how you included lots of pictures with a starry background. Would you want to become an astronaut?

Kia ora Alex,

Not really. Astronauts are expected to do many things like supporting the design, preparation, and training and flying of a space mission. They also have to stick to a strict schedule, like training for 2 hours. As of now I don't think I'd be able to cope.
