Design Brief

During today's lesson we spent our time discussing about clocks. We first talked about the different types and then spent half an hour searching for images of the clocks online and inserting them on a google drawing (or presentation). After adding the images we had to add a label next to them saying what type of clock they are.

We then spent another 30 minutes working on a design brief for when we make our own clocks. I have decided to make a clock for myself.

3D Oblique Sketching

In our second session with Miss Ferguson, we were given the task of practising drawing 3D shapes. We were handed a piece of paper which was used to draw on and write any new words we came across. A few of the words were oblique, tangent, parallel and tone.

We managed to pick up skills like drawing in 3D, shading with three tones, adding a shadow, and leaving space for a white 'y'.

When we were drawing 3D shapes we started off with drawing a square. This next step, if you are left handed you draw another square in the left hand corner of the first square. If you are right handed you draw a square in the right corner.

Next you connect the corners of the squares together. If you're feeling confident you can skip all of these steps and just draw lines from the top of the square's corners and connect them.

Be Sustainable With Energy

On Wednesday we had a talk with Ester from Vector, the electric company. (If the name 'Vector' rings any bells, you're probably thinking about Vector from Despicable Me.)

We went over all the current ways electricity is being made and how each of them work and affect the environment.

It wasn't just all talk though, Ester had two small activities planned. The first one was sort of like a competition between three people. They had to spin a blade as fast as they could to light up a light bulb. This activity was demonstrating how wind powers electricity.

The second activity was about showing us how solar panels worked. One person held a helicopter with a small solar panel inside and another person held a lamp above the helicopter. The propellers had started to spin, but when its light source had gone it only lasted nine seconds before stopping.

I enjoyed that talk.

On The Count Of Three...

Yesterday afternoon Room 12 took a class photo. After we took the serious photo we got to goof around in the rest. Those few minutes were filled with a ton of laughter.

Here are some of the few photos that were taken.

What Did We Do Today?

Today we had the first session of Tech of 2019. My group was with Miss Ferguson doing graphics. She had us working on a Google Drawing about ourselves. All we had to do was get pictures off the internet with a transparent background and insert it, though they had to be about what we like or are interested in.

Prefect for 2019

It's 2019 meaning I have one year left before going to college.

As a year eight and a Prefect, I'll have to put in more effort with not just my work, but with my skills as a leader. I am absolutely not prepared for this year but what can you do? I am, however, ready to welcome this year's obstacles.

A little thing from last year, I had hoped that my brother would become a Prefect with me. Surprisingly, he is one of 2019's prefects.

This year should definitely be interesting.
